"Art for the People" - The Earth

Building on the success from this spring’s first-ever public art exhibition to grace the embassy walls, the U.S. Embassy in Beijing is proud to announce the follow-up exhibition: Art for the People: The Earth, showcasing environmentally-focused community street art from the United States. The exhibit includes iconic works from 19 diverse, renowned artists. The project highlights freedom of expression and the Embassy’s ongoing commitment to direct engagement with the Chinese people. Through the exhibit, the Embassy hopes to start a conversation with people on issues related to environmental protection and the climate crisis.

As the U.S.-China Joint Glasgow Declaration on Enhancing Climate Action in the 2020s stated: “The [United States and China] are intent on seizing this critical moment to engage in expanded individual and combined efforts to accelerate the transition to a global net zero economy.”

Art for the People: The Earth continues the U.S. tradition of artists sparking connections, conversations, and reactions that lead to action. The artists and works on display include the voices of immigrants and visitors to the United States and represent a range of political views and social commentary from communities across the country. The U.S. Embassy in Beijing is proud to create this window into a vibrant and critical part of American arts and culture.

The outdoor exhibit is scheduled to remain on display for six months, and will be featured on the Embassy’s Weibo, WeChat, and Twitter accounts.
